This past December, with the generous support of the Department of Exhibitions and Public Programs at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art, I created a set duplicating the International Space Station. Inside this mock space station set, I suspended myself, simulating an astronaut in zero gravity. The purpose of this performance was to inspire and educate fourth graders though interactive, live video conferences (using Skype) with the students. At the beginning of the live feed, I discussed life in space. Next, I focused on fundamental scientific concepts from the students’ recent curriculum and scientific experimentation. I ended this educational tutorial by answering questions from the students about space travel and exploration.
